I started making Grounded Granola in 2018 or so with no plans to share it with anyone other than family. I had spent my entire career in the corporate world but without my heart in it for a number of years. I didn’t think so at the time, but I was fortunate to be part of a downsizing in 2022, otherwise, I’d still be doing the same thing, living a comfortable life, but not the fulfilling one that was waiting for me just on the other side of fear.
Frustrated, confused and full of anxiety, I decided to hire a life coach in 2023. Working with Jill Englund was like a challenging, scenic and guided hike in search of my true self. She helped me see that the answers I sought were already within me and that the only things keeping me from living the life I wanted were my own limiting beliefs.
My passion has been around food and wellness for the last 15 years. It started when my mom was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes. I got curious and quickly learned that it’s a completely preventable AND reversible disease. I began to take a hard look at the foods I was eating and stumbled on a great book in a used book store set me on a path of eliminating ultra-processed foods from my diet. For the first time, I was reading labels, choosing nutrition over empty calories and finding a whole new world of flavors. (I would later come to disagree with the author’s suggested use of artificial sweeteners but invaluable info nonetheless!)
I believe that we truly are what we eat and that what we eat has the power to harm or the power to heal. I also believe that healthy food can AND should taste really, really good.
